Eating Smarter Is Finally Possible!
Smarter Foods launches its initial line of products
Brentwood, TN, U.S.A. – February 1, 2010 – After six years in development, the principals of Smarter Foods have launched their initial line of products: shelf-stable pasta meals.
While shelf-stable pasta has been around for years in both the consumer and military markets, this is the first time that such meals can actually promote good health. Smarter Foods' meals are made using its CarboStar Method, a proprietary method for reducing the glycemic impact of carbohydrate-based foods.
"We add a dash of our CarboStar blend, which is made from a variety of plant-derived extracts, to the pasta flour. Because we don't take any of the pasta away, we don't take away any of the taste consumers expect from their favorite foods," explains company president and co-founder Ajay Chawan.
"A better-for-you version of just about anything made from flour can be made using CarboStar. We've made pasta, pizza crusts, breakfast cereals, and even brownies! The CarboStar pizza was a big hit at a local restaurant," states Dr. D. B. "Danny" Chawan, the company's chief scientist and inventor of the CarboStar Method.
Smarter Foods' initial line-up consists of three products: semolina linguini in marinara sauce, whole wheat linguini (that looks and tastes line regular linguini, thanks to another of Danny's inventions), and macaroni and cheese. All products are shelf-stable (which means no freezing or refrigeration are required) and can be warmed in a microwave in 60 seconds. The company plans to roll out additional pasta meals and products in the coming months.
Smarter Foods was previously known as Saatwic Foods. The company's principals changed the name to Smarter to quickly convey its value proposition to consumers: enjoy better health through smarter nutrition.
